As the owner of a business facility, you understand the importance of having working bathrooms. You and your employees need to be able to go into the bathroom at any time without having to deal with clogged toilets or sinks. However, because there may be so many different people using each bathroom, it may prove difficult to keep your drains clear. Use this information to learn more about two preventative measures you can take to help keep your plumbing system in good condition.
Cover Your Drains with Strainers
The first thing you want to do when looking to maintain clear drains is cover them with strainers. Strainers are an inexpensive but powerful way for you to keep your pipes from becoming clogged.
Understand that people who go into the bathroom may comb their hair in front of the mirror or even mistakenly drop small items into the sink. This hair and other debris can eventually accumulate in your pipes and cause a blockage.
When you have strainers on your drains, the devices catch debris before it has a chance to enter your plumbing system. Strainers are covered in tiny holes that are large enough to let water pass through but small enough so that many other things become caught in it. The strainers are also easy to maintain, since all you'll need to do is periodically remove the strainers and empty the contents into a trash can.
Make the Switch to 1-Ply Tissue
Another measure you can take when you want to keep clogs at bay concerns the type of tissue that you stock your bathrooms with. If you've been using a 2-ply version, it may be time to make the switch to 1-ply.
2-ply tissue can be troublesome because it isn't as biodegradable as its 1-ply counterpart. The extra layer of thickness means that 2-ply tissue may not dissolve as easily once it hits the water in the toilet bowl. Over time, the tissue could build up in your pipes. You want to use tissue that is as thin as possible so that it instantly dissolves when it comes into contact with the water. An added benefit of 1-ply tissue is that you may find it to be quite a bit more affordable than the 2-ply version.
Keeping the plumbing system at your place of business clear doesn't have to be difficult if you know what to do. Start using these tips right away, and you can enjoy a plumbing system that runs smoothly for as long as possible.Share
